12wbt week 4: Measuring up to the first fitness test
I couldn’t wait til the week was out, I had to share:
Week 4 on 12wbt means the mini-milestone fitness test. We’re officially a third of the way through the program and I’ve got another 4 weeks to go until my little sister’s wedding.
After yesterday’s killer gym session, the last thing I wanted to do was pull on my runners and do the time trial. It was 9am and already 25 degrees and I could hear all the mental gremlins creeping forward to tell me to stay in bed and do it later in the week. But Wednesday is weigh in day so I got up and went to the loo, making sure to clean my teeth ASAP. That’s my top tip for getting out of bed and staying up, if you brush your teeth, it wakes you up and you might as well carry on.
So how did I do….??
Down a total of 2.6kg. Only 0.6kg in the week, I’d have hoped for more given the amount of exercise I’ve been doing.
Start week – 0 on toes, 15 on knees
Week 4 – 0 on toes, 27 on knees
Start week – I could only reach 11cms in front of my toes.
Week 4 – I can touch my toes!!!!
1 km Time Trial:
Start week – 8:03 mins
Week 4 – 7:48 mins
15 seconds faster! It did hurt in the heat and I managed to record a new peak heart rate of 200bpm!!
Start week – 38 seconds
Week 4 – 1:06 minutes
28s longer It hurt but might have been able to squeeze another few seconds out on a less tired leg day
Massively surprised at how much my fitness has improved in 4 weeks, especially being able to touch my toes – it’s been years since I could do that so the Pilates is definitely working. Determined to do better on the run next time. I did have a small technical hitch in that I inadvertently paused my GPS so didn’t record section of the run so ended up running 1.5k. I’m mildly thinking about starting to run again…maybe. It certainly burns through those calories!
Start week – 105.5cm
Week 4 – 98cm
7.5cm smaller!!! Wowzers!! And a little *sob* my boobs are drastically disappearing.
Start week – 111.5cm
Week 4 – 95.5cm
An amazing 16cm smaller!! I’d felt it in my clothes and secretly hoping its enough to make the bridesmaid dress fit. Definitely back in the region on size 14 dresses
Start week – 126cm
Week 4 – 124cm
Start week – 73cm
Week 4 – 70cm
Start week – 76cm
Week 4 – 72cm
Arms stayed the same.
I’m made up!! What started as disappointment when scales didn’t appear to be reflecting my hard work, the tape measure certainly delivered. All big top half changes but happy to see the thighs going down too. I think they are getting a bit firmer – or at least should be after all those lunges yesterday.
